The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is a Federal Government agency that provides statistics on matters that affect the Australian population.[2] It's mostly known by the public for being the agency that conducts the national census; the most recent one being held in 2016.[3]

The ABS has multiple offices across Australia including one at 295 Ann Street in Brisbane City.[1]

2016 census[]

The 2016 census was Australia's 17th national census held by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It was held on August 9, 2016 and was the first Australian census to be held mostly online. 63.3% of people who participated in the census completed their census forms online. However due to repeated DDoS attacks on the website on the census night, most of the census forms were done after August 9.

Comprehensive data collected by the census was released to the public on June 27, 2017.[4]
